Frittata - A Great Breakfast Dish

Making breakfast for the family or a group always makes us ask “What can I make?”.

The breakfast frittata should be an option you consider. I believe a lot of people are intimidated by this dish, but in reality it is a very simple and easy dish to make.

Let’s start with “what goes in a frittata?”, great question with an easy answer, ANYTHING you want. It can be as simple or as flavorful as you want.

You may be asking, “what exactly is a frittata?”. Its an egg dish, think of it like a baked omelet. This is part of what makes it a simple dish to make. It’s baked in the over at 350* for 25-35 min. You need to make sure you’re using a non-stick pan that is safe for the oven. It comes out light and fluffy filled with the ingredients that you included. You can serve it with some potatoes or hashbrowns and some fruit.

Lets look at mine and I’ll share the ingredients and the recipe for this frittata.

The Ingredients I used:

  • Bacon

  • Spinach

  • Cherry Tomatoes

  • Red Bell Pepper

  • Onion (I used Carmalized)

  • Eggs (8)

  • Ricotta Cheese

  • Parmesan Reggiano

  • Blend of Whole Milk Mozzarella and Provolone

  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

The Recipe

  1. In a bowl add the eggs and one cup of ricotta cheese, salt and pepper and whip

  2. In a non-stick skillet on med head add your bacon. First dice the bacon into pieces.

  3. Let the fat render out, finish at your desired crispness. Pull out half the grease and then add the red bell pepper

  4. after 3 min add the bacon back in and the cherry tomatoes cook for additional 1 min

  5. Add the spinach, cook for 1 min and then add your eggs

  6. Use a rubber spatula and mix the eggs continuously for 1 min then add 2/3 of your cheese blend and mix again for 15 sec

  7. Add the remaining 1/3 blend and some parmesean reggiano

  8. Bake at 350* for 25-35 min or until golden brown on top

  9. Let cool for 10 min and serve like a slice of pie. Enjoy
